When President Matt Zimmer joined Zengistics, he had a clear vision: scale with technology, not just headcount. But Zengistics was already thriving — and reaching the next level meant rethinking how work was done. Competing with billion-dollar brokerages would require real operational leverage, not more manual effort.

Matt and Senior Director of IT Jordan Barrett had already invested in modern infrastructure, including EDI, APIs, and analytics. But even with the right systems in place, up to half of Zengistics’ orders still involved repetitive tasks.

Work that should be automated — like building loads and applying pricing — still slowed the team down. The minutes added up, but the opportunity cost was harder to ignore. “We were wasting hundreds of hours a week on work that added no strategic value,” Jordan explains.
